Baby Shower Decor

We had a shower for my sister who is due with her first baby boy in about a month! I was in charge of decorations ... here is what I came up with... I got some old books from D.I. and cut the pages up to make a garland...

I put a small fold in the middle of the page and used that as my guide to cut the triangles out....

go from one corner to the middle fold... then the other corner to the middle fold...

you'll end up with a whole bunch of triangles...

small tip here: {that I realized after I cut most of them}... the point is the bottom so when you cut it make sure to pay attention to which direction your cutting, you have to turn it upside down ...

the point here was the top of the page which is the right side up, but your going to be turning them upside down... so it's opposite of what you think... ya know...

here's what it looked like all strung up! {so cute}

I also bought some cute onsies from good ol' walmart and some cute socks from Old Navy and strung them up [like on a clothesline]

{did the same with socks} in a different spot!!

It looked super~duper cute!!!

p.s. I just added this idea to craft-o-maniac mondays check it out!!

Blessing Dress Frame

Before our little girl Reese was even born, I have been working on this project... when I was decorating her room I knew I wanted to frame her blessing dress, that I would make out of my wedding dress, so I went to our local thrift store, D.I. and bought this huge frame, painted the frame turqoise and wrapped the cardboard backing that came with it, in black & white wrapping paper...
Super easy, super cheap and look how super cute it looks holding her blessing dress!
I'm trying to decide if I should just hang it, from the top of the frame, like it is now.. or if I should add a hook ... probably add a hook to it, so the dress is a little more centered... as for now this is it and I LOVE it!

Mod Podge letter

So this little project is nothing new and awesome and super creative but it's the latest thing I've finished... I just bought a plain wooden 'R' from JoAnne's and mod podged it... I needed something small for one more space in the nursery...
One thing you do need to do is pick the paper you like, then flip it over, right side down... and flip over your letter so it's backwards... the trace it with a pencil and cut it out...
then when your done, flip them both over and they should match up...
I painted the edges white... I think to go dark would have been super cute too, more of a contrast...
then I took some turquoise and rubbed it along the edges...
when that's all dry I took my paper and mod podged it on...
then rubbed the edges with sand paper to trim off excess paper, and rough it up a little while smoothing it too ha ha...

I then couldn't decide how to finish it... I tried a few different looks...
BIRDS?
PLAIN?
or these cute button things...

I went with the plain look although I really liked the buttons too, so I may add them if I get bored of the plain... I hung it right above the light switch when you first walk in the room, it looks great! Just what this space needed!

Accent to Drapes

So I've been meaning to post this for forever... After I finished these drapes I knew they weren't actually "finished" they were missing something.... I knew I needed more black added to the top I just wasn't sure what... I had bought these feather boas, and was going to make feather balls and hang the balls from the ceiling... but instead I used the boas to literally top off the drapes! I LOVE it it is just what these drapes needed, Super easy too, I just tucked them into the top of the blinds no sewing at all... and feathers go great with my bird theme... kinda fun when you have one project in mind and then it turns into something else...sometimes you can't plan it, it just happens!!

Hooks

I hung these hooks last night... I've been meaning to hang them FOR-EV-ER... so at like 10:30 I finally got around to it ha ha... I need a place to hang dresses... I can put everything else in her dresser but I have no where to put dresses so I decided to hang them on the wall.I even got this adorable dress at a shower today ("her" first dress) that matches the room perfectly as well as being so cute!!
I didn't love the look of the plane hooks so I made it all girly by putting flowers on the top of the hooks... (which I actually really like, I do not like girly, girly things... at least I thought I didn't)? I had plane pink ones but wanted to add a little more to them and happen to have a small bouquet of flowers sitting there so I tore off a flower and tore it apart then added the white to the pink... it made it thicker and much cuter....
Before...
After...
Then I just took a little dab of hot glue and glued it onto the top of the hook!!! I think her room is finally just about done!

Crib Skirt

Ok Crib Skirt DONE! This was super easy, few straight stitches and done... I really like to work with fabric that has a "finished edge" ... less work for me, and it's oh so cute!!
It's kinda hard to see, cause the crib has some thick bars... but its better than nothen, and I had the left over fabric anyways!!! Nice little touch!

Drapes

Ok so these are not done yet... but they're close... I bought some fabric for drapes not really having a plan. I wouldn't suggest doing this, luckily they turned out cause the fabric wasn't cheap... I really like how they turned out, I wanted them to be sheer so I could have the light shine thru without having to tie them back... & I wanted some type of swag look...and this was the end result... I feel like they need something, not sure what yet... maybe some black flowers on the top ?? They don't feel finished... and they need to actually be hung right, they are currently only hung by push pins... but I do like them...

I bought enough fabric to make a crib skirt with the pink... it's a really cute/pretty fabric I'll take more picts later but for now this is what I have... I also bought all the fabric for a quilt... now if I can just find time to do it all... I'm getting close to haven this baby so I'm kinda on a time limit... I hope I can get it all done in time!!!

Hanging Pictures

I got the pictures hung in the Nursery last week... this is how it turned out... I really like the turquoise shelves, this space needed some 3 Dimensions...

I also re-arranged a few things... I put these frames in the birdcage instead... kinda cute!
