Birthday Decor

So my life for the last few weeks has consisted of scrapbooking every spare minute... it is pretty much done now so I can focus on other things now... one of those other things was a birthday party for my baby girl...(which is why I was doing the scrapbooking and I'll try and post some pics of the book, cause it turned out pretty cute!!) I wanted to share a few of the birthday decor ideas I did...

I had an idea to display some of my favorite pictures of her from her first year of life, I edited them in picnic via picasa, printed them and hung them on some string with some paper clips!! It looked really cute!!

We bundled some balloons together and hung them up along with a couple of paper lanterns that I snagged at the dollar store and spray painted silver...

I loved the silver color and the way it added to the look and feel of the room, 

not bad for a BUCK!

We made a cute little pink cake just for the birthday girl and topped it with a crepe paper monogramed doilie... For her bigger cake I did a tripe layer pink & white!

I had everyone mark, what they thought was the birthday girls birth height and current height...

I think I spent about $5 dollars on stuff for decor, balloons are cheap, to print off pictures is cheap and there's always good stuff at the dollar store. I had the spray paint and the paper, string & paper clips... as always use what you have, reuse what you have and be creative!!! 

Now that the scrapbooking is done maybe I can find time to paint my front room wall!

{cup cakes}

I love how cute cupcakes can be!  A cute cupcake holder  is on my list of things to get but I don't currently have one, so I whipped out a few dishes and created one real quick...

between the glass platter, glass cake stand, and a crystal bowl I created this!

with each thing stacked on the next, it turned out to be just what I needed to display my cupcakes

I made a few quick crepe paper doilie decor things by folding and scrunching some crepe paper... to make one smaller {yellow} for layering just cut the crepe paper down the middle...

I layerd the crepe paper doilie things, star punched the birthday boys first initial, and hot glued them all onto a stick...

made some smaller stars to top off the other cupcakes... simple {two} star punch outs, hot glued together, with a toothpick in the middle...

This was super fast and easy to throw together and made it so much cuter than just plane ol' cupcakes on a plate!

Birthday Garland

The first several months of the year are busy BIRTHDAY MONTHS around here, so I needed to make a good BIRTHDAY sign... that I can use for each birthday... I first wanted to make a garland to go with it... I have these paper shapes that come in whole sheets, so I punched out the shapes and just sewed them together, it was super easy and really, really, fun to make... you can use whatever shapes you have, di-cuts or cut out your own shapes from whatever punches you have... just feed them threw the sewing machine one by one, it really is quite fun!!!

I LOVE how it turned out...

NEXT: I printed off the letters to Happy Birthday... got a cup that was the right size to trace a perfect circle around the letter, then cut out the letter...

I also cut out another circle for the letter circle to go on, and of course the white triangle shape for both circles to go on...

glued the circle doily letters on the triangles creating the little flags to hang from a string with a clothes pin, added my garland above it and called it good!! Its pretty much really cute and I can use it for every birthday now... a fun way to customize each birthday and add to the birthday sign would be different types of garland for each birthday...  I LOVE how it looks it's super fun!!! And will get lots of good use!!!
