~Sweater bag~

So I pulled out my {fall & winter} clothes... going thru some of them I decided I had some sweaters that I no longer was going to wear... so what to do with them,?? give them to someone...? take them to the local thrift store... or turn one into a bag?? Ya I think I'll do that...
Start by: cutting the sleeves off the sweater... then cut the "top off" right under the sleeves....
NEXT: Take one sleeve and cut it in half, length wise, then fold it in half {length wise,} and sew together....

Strap: The strap will be made from the sleeves...  sew the two pieces  of the one sleeve together to make one long strap.... I then took sections of the sleeve and folded it {width wise} and stitched it, then cut it.... it will look like the picture below... I   did that several times all down the strap....
For the pocket: take one long strip or two short trips and sew a line down the middle, then scrunch the fabric together, Pin along the top of a square piece of fabric and sew it on
Pin the pocket on: Then stitch all along the outside of it... {except for the top, obviously} then.... Stitch the bottom shut... I did NOT turn it inside out because I wanted to raw edge showing... I also turned it  so that what WAS  the bottom of the sweater is now the TOP  of the bag, so it has more of a finished look....
Sew on the strap: Take the long strap you made and pin it onto the sides of the bag and sew it on....
Flower: I made two flowers by cutting out different sized circles, then stuck a Brad in the middle to hold the circles together...
Sew on flowers: where you put on the strap, to hide the sew marks, where the straps got put...
I think it turned out super cute! One thing with sweater bags, they are stretchy so you can't put heavy things in them.... so they need to be used for simple, little things!
~the ways to decorate them are endless if your up to making one, I'd love to see the finished project!!!~
